I was excited when I heard that the PS3 might include a 60 gig drive. I was less excited when I heard that would be the deluxe version that sold for $599.00
Apparently Sony is targetting the PS3 as a replacement for the home pc, but I don't think they will be succesful. They are now slated to go head up with Nintendo, on a box that will be 1/3 the price. |

Although extremely pricey, I do not think that they will be head-to-head with the Wii (after all even Nintendo says that they're not competing.) Unlike certain games, where you had to buy it under different version, this time around games from the PS3 will be very different than those on the Wii (and vice versa.)
In all, I think they'll be able to coexist, even with all the people throwing flame wars left and right; I'll sure try to get both |

Have to say I go back and forth with this one. Seems to come with a lot, a media center for the home even . Somehow I find even with the price, it will sell quite well when brought out. The wait has been so long, most are chomping at the bit to get their hands on it - no matter the price |

| Ahhh...for such expendable income! I can now only sit and dream about one for the time being. What's the bet they'll come down in price as the market gets more saturated? |

| It is inevitable. After the Christmas period I'm sure they will lower the price to around $400-$500. |

I wouldent hold you breath on that, look at the PSP it took about a year an a half to drop in price. Just so everyone is clear here New technology is always expensive plus the marketing side of a product is said to be the most expensive on launch the get thoes buyers that got to have everything first, it is a common marketing practice everwhere. Once the sales decrease to a certain point they lower the price to boost them again I do not see the PS3 depreciate in value for at least a year after release. Every videogame console only has an average life span of 5 years so the PS3 will at most I believe will get dropped to $300 in the 4th year. |

| I agree with Onyxx, I don't think that after Christmas there will be a significant discount. It will happen, as far as I remember it took PS2 some time to come down to a decent price - it didn't start off at this range I know, but if it took awhile, I'm sure this system will cost a lot for some time to come. |

It's funny how expensive the PS3 seemed to me, until I actually saw some prices for HD-DVD players. Then it hit me - so I can pay $500 for an HD-DVD player that JUST plays HD-DVDs, or I can pay $600 for a PS3 that plays high def blu-ray DVD's, and plays games, and has a 60GB hard drive...
Suddenly the PS3 seems like a no-brainer. Makes me wonder when others will catch on to this idea. |

| Man I have been waiting for this beast. Do you guys think they will all be sold out for months like the xBox 360 was? I will most likely buy mine at or after Christmas. Think I will be out of luck? 500-600 isn't that bad considering what it comes with. |

| As of right now (June 2008) the price for a ps3 in Canada is $399.99 for the cheapest package. I don't think it will go any lower than this for quite some time. |
