I am sure most of you have heard about this but if you haven't here is the article. It is supposed to be released 4th qtr. of 2007.
I am a fan of SEGA an will be purchasing this as I do all video game systems but the big question is will the make the big "SEGA Mistake" as I like to call it. I believe they would rush out there platforms so they could be first. leaving out vital securities againts hacks among other things and this let their compition know what to compete with and what not to do. I am interested to know what everyone else thinks. |

It's interesting to see what will happen of this
Their previous portable, the Games Gear, wasn't really a mistake per se....but it was never able to bite a piece of the portable market |

| Oh I remember the Game Gear! It was huge and heavy, but it had superior graphics to the Game Boy, which was it's main competition. It's a shame it never took off. |

| I had a game gear an about 20 games for it, I had to buy an add on extended battery because the battery life sucked. I liked my system even though it was bulkier than hell. Sega also had the Nomad which played genesis cartridges, great concept except rpgs were hard to play on the account that the text was designed for a TV screen an not a small screen. |

| Yeah I needed a charger for my old game gear. I'm not sure why sega is making a handheld, I mean between PSP and DS it seems like the market is cornered. It'll be really interesting to see exactly what happens with this system. |

| Sega keeps trying, LOL. From what I've observed over the years, the diehard Sega fans will purchase it initially, and then it will cease to be lucrative. |

Here something to make you think Sega will be selling refirbished Dreamcasts. Hmm I think they are gonna jump back in the console market.

No one's calling the Game Gear a mistake. Granted, it had piss poor battery life, but it was COLOR. And I could play it in the DARK (gasp).
It took, what? Twenty years for Nintendo to pick up on the fact that we can't see the damned screen? The mistakes would happen two generations in a row. Namely Saturn and Dreamcast.
Jumping the gun on hardware, and lacking third party support. Let's hope it doesn't happen again if they get into the console war again. |

yes true for the master system, segacd, 32x, saturn but the genesis and the dreamcast had good 3rd party support. The thing that killed the dreamcast is that any average joe with a cd burner and an internet connection could get freegames for it. |

I am not sure, with the current market out there, and the previous reputation of Sega, that they would have much of a chance in the console market. When it comes to consoles, I am not sure that old Bill Gates is going to be dethroned for a very long time.
Although it would be nice if he was and then the price on all his stuff would plummet......

Dethroned? What makes you think Xbox is the leader, ever see there sales in japan? I think Sony is leading but with the new systems comming out I think Nintendo will take lead. |

| That sounds promising, I wish Sega would return to the market. I know our Dreamcast gets a lot of use still. In fact we've gone through about three of them so far, and have nearly all the games that came out for it. |
