| Hmmm. Whenever I encounter an error with a CD game not working I usually spray the disc with windex or some other glass cleaner. Typically works for me. However I'm sure there are more effective methods and devices out there. |

thats absurd, if you clean any cd/dvd/umd you should use a required cleaner, if you dont have any then use WATER. those are cleaners you used are never meant to clean any kind of disk, you may have ruined any chance of salvaging the games, you should have looked at the umd cleaning kits they sell in stores. |

| Wait a second, are these games just dirty or do they have some sort of deep scratches that look nearly impossible to repair? |

Don't use windex! It will potentially eat the layer on the disc.
I always use very high concentration of rubbing alcohol. As pure as you can find. Then use a cotton cloth towel and use it to clean the disc, very careful. Always clean following the disc. I have saved many a disc like this. |

(I feel like an archelogist trying to decipher the text )
If you are bent against using appropriate tools, there are myths that softly applying toothpaste could (I say "could") help; as far as having tested it...no, I did not... |

If you want a definitive answer, try explaining the problem more. Such as, what does the disc look like? Are there small scuffs or deep scratches? What happens when you put the game in? Anything at all?
And if you're using things like SOFT SCRUB on a plastic disc, you have serious problems. Household cleaners such as soft scrub will EAT the plastic and make your game irreparable. Most household cleaners are solvents. There's a reason your eyes water when mommy's scrubbing the floor, and it's not because you had to see her fat flaps droop like that.
Moral of the story, DESCRIBE the problem or you get no solution. "It's broke" is not a description.
kthx.
This is an example of think before you post. |

| There is a small handheld tool that you can buy at Walmart called the CD Recovery Gun. It takes out light scratches and deep dirt. I have one and it works pretty well. For deeper scratches the best fix is the trash can. |
